After not having posted anything since last August, I am ironically breaking the silence with a short and sweet post to share that tomorrow I am going on a 30 day silent retreat!
The retreat will take place in Switzerland and will follow the Ignatian Exercises. If you would like to find out more about this style of retreat, you can read about it here. From 9pm on Thursday night I will enter into a month-long period of silence: no phones, no internet, no books. Just the bible, prayer and the sound of the Swiss countryside. I will meet with a spiritual director once a day for 30 minutes (fortunately I am able to pack a lot of words in per minute) and we have two break-days where we can talk, but apart from that I will not be saying a word – apart from in prayer!
I have all the usual hopes and nerves about this retreat, but my big prayer is that God would confirm and give colour to the vocation that I feel he has be calling me to over the past couple of years. Please remember me in your prayers – for the above and also for the strength to keep going in the hard times and that I would never loose sight of God’s merciful love for me.
You can be assured that I will be posting some gems found in the silence in the near future.
See you on the other side…
